One of the 570’s most acclaimed breweries debuts new brews…

There are moments when a brewery stops feeling like a place you visit and begins to feel like a place that understands you.
This week, in Hawley, Wallenpaupack Brewing Company quietly did something rather bold: they released four new beers at once. Not variations on a theme, not a seasonal tweak, but four distinct personalities, each with its own voice, its own rhythm, its own reason for being.
It’s the kind of move that we’ve come to expect from one of the region’s most award-winning craft beer brewers.
You begin with Hawley’s Comet, a red IPA that announces itself with brightness. Brewed with Comet, Simcoe, and El Dorado hops, it carries notes of citrus and pine, balanced by a steady malt backbone. At 6.5%, it has presence without overwhelming the palate, a type of balance not achieved in many IPAs.
Then there is the Experimental Hopped Pilsner, part of Wallenpaupack’s For the Love of Lager series of beers. The latest installment in this popular line of lagers (yes, a pilsner is a lager, btw) is brewed with Haas using HBC 1134 and offers a clean, crisp profile with subtle complexity. At 5.4%, it doesn’t shout; it draws you in.
The Altbier follows with warmth and balance. Created in collaboration with Prairie Malt, Hopsteiner, and Omega Yeast, it leans into caramel malt character while maintaining a crisp, composed finish. It’s the kind of beer that feels grounded, steady, and dependably satisfying.
And then, almost playfully, comes the Crisp Cucumber Cream Ale. Conditioned on cucumber, it delivers a light, refreshing profile that feels made for easy drinking. At 4.5%, it’s bright, clean, and deceptively simple. The cucumber aspect basically screams “Summer beer!”
Taken together, the four beers tell a larger story.
Wallenpaupack Brewing Company has become a defining presence in the Lake Wallenpaupack region, drawing both locals and visitors with its combination of thoughtful brewing and destination appeal. The brewery recently celebrated its eighth anniversary. And it had a lot to celebrate.
For those not familiar, Wallenpaupack came away from the 2024 World Beer Championships with five medals, four of them gold. It also earned three medals at the 2025 Great American Beer Festival. Oh, and Beer Connosseur Magazine named Wallennpaupack Brewing Company its 2026 Brewery of the Year.
I should mention that these are only a recent sampling of the awards and honors bestowed upon Wallenpaupack Brewing over the years.
This latest four-beer drop reinforces the brewery’s continued focus on driving the 570 craft beer scene forward, not by focusing on a single style, but by embracing variety. There is intention in the spread, from hop-forward to crisp and understated, from experimental to familiar.
Because in these four beers, you begin to see more than just what’s in the glass. You see a brewery that knows exactly where it stands, and where it’s willing to go next.
