Sarah Street Grill Announces Wine Dinner

The Stroudsburg eatery is offering a five-course wine pairing meal…

The Sarah Street Grill (Stroudsburg, PA) has announced it will be hosting a five-course wine dinner. The event takes place on April 22nd at 7pm for a cost of $65 per person. That’s a very reasonable price point, especially considering it also covers a different wine pairing with each course and the menu features some high-end dishes.

The Sarah Street Grill (Stroudsburg, PA) has announced a five-course wine pairing dinner, set for April 22nd.

As noted on the menu above, The Sarah Street Grill is teaming up with chefs Joe Becker and Gene Philbin for this dinner. As the event is (as of this writing) less than a week away, I’d recommend giving the restaurant a call (570-424-9120) to secure reservations if you’re interested in attending. Things like this tend to sell out.

This menu looks pretty exciting…

Reading through the dishes offered as part of this five-course wine dinner, there’s a lot to like, in my opinion. The wines are from all over the world, spanning from the Pacific Northwest of the United States (Tattoo Girl Rose) to Japan (Yuzu Sake), dropping down to New Zealand (Juggernaught Sauvignon Blanc), and then zipping all the way over to Italy (Salpi Super Tuscan and Muray Moscato d’ Asti).

That’s quite the trip.

The food selections are equally globally inspired. The Smoked Porkbelly with Cucumber Kimchi is a solid nod in the direction of Korea. The Halibut Confit is a decidedly French dish, though the Peppadew Fondu accompanying it is a South African specialty. And then there’s the Picana, an uber-fatty cut of beef that’s extremely popular in Brazil. And for dessert? Back to Europe for the Basque Cheesecake.

This is a very ambitious meal. There aren’t too many places serving Halibut Confit or Picana in this area, and for the $65 that it costs, it’s hard not to look at that menu and not see something worth taking a chance on. And even if you don’t care for a few of the ingredients, you’ll be drinking enough wine to make it easy to overlook.

So unless you’re otherwise engaged on April 22nd, dinner reservations at Sarah Street Grill sound like a good way to spend a Tuesday night.
