Nearly a dozen NEPA breweries, all in one spot…
Groove Brewing (Scranton) has announced that it is organizing and hosting The Made Local Craft Beer Festival. The event will be held at Groove’s Scranton brewery (1401 Sanderson Avenue) on February 22nd from 12 pm to 6 pm. Tickets are on sale now for $20/person.

According to the Groove Brewing Facebook page, the following breweries will be participating:
- Cooper’s Family Brewery
- Electric City Ciderworks
- Groove Brewing (duh)
- Hopping Eagle Brewing Company
- Last Leg Cidery
- Last Minute Brewing
- Mutant Brewing
- Runaway Train Brewery
- Space Time Mead & Cider
The final list of participating breweries might be even larger than the one above, as Groove said it was still awaiting responses from a few others.
With all of that craft brew being served up, people are going to need something to much upon. No worries. In addition to all the beer, Made Local Craft Beer Festival attendees can purchase food from the Papi’s On Wheels food truck.
The Made Local Craft Beer Festival | Why should you care?
Perhaps after reading all of the above words, you find yourself wondering if you should consider attending The Made Local Craft Beer Festival. If you can muster any amount of interest in local, craft beer, this is probably an event that you should make every effort to attend.
First of all, go back and look at that list of participating breweries. It’s an impressive list. I’ve been to pretty much every beer and wine festival held within the 570 area code over the past several years. Rarely is there an event that features this diverse of a lineup of local Northeast Pennsylvania breweries.
Also, the twenty bucks that it will cost you to get into the Made Local Craft Beer Festival is extremely reasonable. Assuming that all of the breweries in attendance will be offering samples of their suds, that $20 will allow you to taste a wide swath of brews from some of the finest beer makers in this area.
Finally, what the hell else do you have planned for February 22nd? I’ve already purchased my Made Local Craft Beer Festival. My plan is to Uber down to Groove Brewing, sample as many beers as possible, and eat some delicious Puerto Rican food. Then, as I ride in my Uber back to my house, I will have no doubt that I will have had a better afternoon than anyone who did not attend this event.
Unless I fall down my porch stairs as I try to stagger into my house. Please drink responsibly.
Anyway, I’ll be there and if you enjoy good beer…you should be there, too.
What do you think?
