Jackass Brewing Holds Benefit for Local Firefighter’s Family

The Lewisburg brewery aims to raise funds after tragedy struck a Williamsport family…

Jackass Brewing Company (Lewisburg) is helping to raise funds for the family of a local firefighter who passed away unexpectedly. Lieutenant Michael Bastian was a member of the Williamsport Bureau of Fire until his sudden passing in December. To help assist his family, Jackass Brewing stepped up and hosted a benefit at its Lewisburg location and will be hosting another, next week, at its Williamsport pub.

Michael Bastian is survived by his wife, Mariah, and a 13-month-old daughter, Alaina. Shortly before his passing, Michael and Mariah announced that they’d be having another baby girl, who is due to be welcomed into the world this coming May.

In an interview given to WNEP, Jackass Brewing co-founder Larry Winans explained the brewery’s involvement like this:

When Gary, the father-in-law, requested a meeting to sit down, my business partner Skip and I talked about it, and we said absolutely. Yes, we’ll do something, and we want to do something because of the connection with Lewisburg, Williamsport, and the families.

We are giving 20% of our proceeds from the night. In addition to providing the space will have raffle items. They’re gonna have the Lieutenant’s locker and his helmet here. Various firemen are gonna be here to help support and have boots on the bar and talk to people. We’ll have an MC kind of coordinating the event.

In addition to the Jackass Brewing Company benefits, a Godfundme campaign has been established to help raise funds for the Bastian family. As of this writing, nearly $47,000 has been raised against a $50,000 goal.

Jackass Brewing will be holding a benefit at its Williamsport location (301 West 3rd Street) on January 29th (Wednesday) from 5pm to 8pm. If you can attend this benefit or donate to the Bastian family Gofundme, it would be really rad of you to do so.
