Scranton’s newest upscale dining destination is offering something special…
A’Tera 519 (Scranton) has announced its Caviar Week event is beginning this week. Starting yesterday (2/4) and, I guess going for at least the remainder of this week, the high-end restaurant offers a variety of Osetra Caviar-centric dishes for diners looking to enjoy one of the finer culinary delicacies.

To quote from the latest edition of the Basalyga Hospitality Group (the parent company of A’Tera 519) newsletter:
For a limited time, savor the finest selection of caviar, expertly paired with delicate bites and creative dishes. Whether you’re a caviar connoisseur or a first-time taster, every experience is designed to delight your senses.
The newsletter also breaks down the menu options. For $59, the restaurant offers “Caviar Service”. This is a one-ounce serving of Osetra Caviar, along with slices of buckwheat blini, chopped, hardboiled egg whites and yolks, chives, and crème fraîche.

That’s a nice appetizer. For those interested in going all in on the caviar experience, A’Tera 519 is also offering a Caviar Tasting Menu for $149/person. Here’s what that looks like:
- FIRST COURSE
- Creamy Italian Burrata w/ Sauteed Mushrooms, Chives, and Osetra Caviar
- SECOND COURSE
- Potato Lune w/ Scallion Butter Sauce and Osetra Caviar
- ENTREE
- Arctic Char w/ Braised Fennel, Salmon Roe, Fish Veloute, and Osetra Caviar
- DESSERT
- Fior di Latte Gelato w/ Banana Bread, Banana Carmel Sauce, and Osetra Caviar
If you are interested in getting in on A’Tera 519’s Caviar Week, you’ll need to make reservations by calling (272-228-1725), emailing, or booking online. I checked the restaurant’s website and (as of this writing), there is availability throughout the week, though many of the prime-time dinner slots have already been snatched up.
What is Osetra Caviar?
First of all, caviar isn’t “raw fish eggs” as many people believe. It’s salt-cured fish (usually sturgeon) eggs (aka “roe”).
An osetra is a specific type of sturgeon native to the Caspian Sea.
So what is Osetra Caviar? It’s caviar that’s made specifically from osetra roe. People familiar with caviar will tell you that the defining characteristics of Osetra Caviar are its firm texture and nutty flavor profile.
All the caviar dishes offered as part of A’Tera 519’s Caviar Week is Osetra Caviar. If you price this stuff out online, you’ll notice that the $59 price point for the “Caviar Service” is very reasonable.
